sarabibliomania asked you:
Just receieved “City of Lose Souls” in the mail today. So excited! But quick question. Not sure if this has been asked before but what do the titles for all the books mean? I know “City of Bones” is in reference to the Silent Brothers and “City of Glass” is Idris the city of the Shadow hunters and that but what about the others? Thank you :)

City of Bones: The City of Bones, obviously!

City of Ashes: The rain of ashes at the end of the book that covers everything, also just a general allegorical reference to ashes, phoenixes rising from, etc

City of Glass: Alicante

City of Fallen Angels: The second three books are thematically: fall, loss, and redemption. City of Fallen Angels centers around the fall and dissolution: everyone’s tempted, everyone falls. Everyone loses a little bit of their soul.

City of Lost Souls: So, now you’ve lost a bit of your soul or your self, who are you? There’s the obvious character(s) who have lost their souls, but there is also the general theme of free will, how much you can compromise what you think is good and still retain who you are, and loss in general.

City of Heavenly Fire: Well, it makes sense if you’ve finished CoLS. :)

A small present

cassandraclare:

Up on my site under Extras: a deleted scene from City of Lost Souls with Magnus and Alec.

It’s not particularly spoilery, but of course, you should avoid if you are avoiding all things CoLS. If so, you can read the letter from Will to his parents that was part of the Clockwork Prince special content. I’ll be putting all that special content up over the next few days.
